About the museum
The Aliança Underground Museum opened on 24 April 2010 in the underground cellars of Aliança, in Sangalhos, in the municipality of Anadia. It presents itself as the first underground museum where sparkling wines, brandies and wines coexist with eight art collections.
The concept combines wine and art: the visit moves through the ageing cellars and the collections at the same time. These include an archaeological collection, an African ethnographic collection, contemporary sculpture from Zimbabwe, minerals, fossils, azulejo tilework, ceramics from Caldas da Rainha and the collection “Índia – Mito, Sensualidade e Ficção”.
The visit is always guided, lasts an average of an hour and a half and can be complemented with wine and sparkling wine tasting experiences.
