About the museum
The Museu de Cera de Fátima (MUCEFA) presents, in 32 scenes with around 120 wax figures, the main episodes of the Fátima apparitions in 1917 and the historical events that surrounded them.
The route places the visitor in the period in which the apparitions took place, marked by the First World War and Portugal's entry into the conflict, which sent around 55,000 men to France and other troops to Angola and Mozambique. These scenes also portray the story of the three seers.
The three-dimensional figures are set in environments designed to convey the reality of the time. The museum sees the exhibition as a union of art and history, based on an event that the press of the day disseminated in books, newspapers and magazines.
