About the museum
The Museu Regional do Vinho de Redondo (Redondo Regional Wine Museum) opened to the public in September 2001 and was conceived as a starting point for discovering the Alentejo and its winemaking tradition. It is a cultural outreach facility of the municipality of Redondo, located on Praça da República.
The permanent collection brings together agricultural tools, objects, images and texts associated with the art of winemaking, with particular emphasis on ceramic material, characteristic of this pottery centre. It is arranged to reproduce the various stages of winemaking, from tilling the land to the glass. Besides the permanent collection, the museum hosts themed exhibitions and lectures.
On site, a multimedia kiosk provides information on the museum, the wine cellars of the region and activities linked to winemaking, and the shop sells a selection of red and white wines from the Alentejo.
