About the museum
The Lesnícke a drevárske múzeum in Zvolen is run by the state enterprise LESY Slovenskej republiky (Lesy SR). It is located in the centre of Zvolen on Námestie SNP; the exhibitions emphasise Zvolen's position as a centre of forestry in Slovakia.
The permanent exhibitions Drevo vždy živé (Wood Always Alive) and Hlas lesa (Voice of the Forest) were created with funds from the European Union. The first is devoted to traditional wood crafts, the second to the forest as a natural community and to the development of forest management. The exhibition Rodina Ostrolúcka a Ľudovít Štúr (The Ostrolúcka Family and Ľudovít Štúr) recalls the regional history of Zvolen and one of the most influential noble families of Zvolen County (Zvolenská stolica).
