About the museum
The Múzeum Vtedy takes visitors through the second half of the 20th century in the former Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and, with everyday objects, shows how people lived back then. It is housed in the premises of the cultural and social centre Galéria Jabloň in Prievidza, about 2 km from the spa town of Bojnice.
The permanent exhibitions include old telephones, televisions, radios and gramophones, which were considered the pride of the European industrial design of the time. Part of the museum is a model replica of a flat furnished in the style of the 70s and 80s, an exhibition of a shop, an exhibition of a school, a collection of telephones and telecommunications equipment, and a television studio of Czechoslovak Television Prague from the 80s. The newest exhibition is Kino Baník, with a cinema hall with period seating, a projection booth and a collection of historical projectors.
