About the museum
The Szilasi family has devoted itself to collecting and restoring motorcycles since the 1990s, when Ing. Jozef Szilasi began the work. Gradually the collection grew to include motorcycles and cars; today it comprises about 80 motorcycles, mainly of the Jawa and ČZ brands from 1932 to 1970, and 15 cars that were commonly driven in Czechoslovakia.
The Szilcar Museum was established in 2019 to decorate the showroom and as a demonstration of restoration work. The permanent exhibition presents 10 motorcycles – four of the Jawa brand, five of ČZ and one of Manet; one stands directly in the showroom and the others are on the first floor.
The motorcycles are restored with an emphasis on original parts, original accessories and original paintwork, so that they are fully functional. Today the collection and the restorations are looked after by the son and grandson of the founder.
