About the museum
BesArt The River Museum turns the Besòs river into an open-air urban art museum. The project, which its promoters consider the largest urban art museum in the world, combines creativity, sustainability and social inclusion along the river between Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Sant Adrià de Besòs and Barcelona. Since 2016 it has been driving the cultural regeneration of the area, connecting art, nature and community.
The murals cover the east and west walls of the riverside park and its bridges. Among the artists who have painted at BesArt are Aryz, Franco Fasoli, Mina Hamada, Sixe Paredes and Frank de Trepax, along with local artists. Each year the project invites national and international urban artists to take part with new works.
BesArt also runs educational and participatory activities, such as collective painting workshops with children and young people at risk of exclusion, activities with older people and projects with schools. The museum has six access points to the river: four on the east bank and two on the west.
