About the museum

The Casa Museo de la Villa occupies a traditional civil-architecture townhouse with origins in the 17th century, on the Plaza del Maestro Almeida in the historic centre of Colmenar Viejo. The building retains a wine press (lagar) and a cellar, and shares its space with the municipal tourist office.

The collection brings together archaeological remains, tools of traditional mountain life and objects that explain the municipality’s agricultural past, as well as its main economic activities and trades. Some of the pieces come from loans by private individuals and partner organisations.

Recently the collections, especially the objects on loan, have been catalogued and the display has been reorganised to offer a clearer route. The façade has also been restored, respecting its original appearance. In September 2026 the Town Council announced the recovery of regular opening hours for the public.
