About the museum

The Casa Museo de los Patronos de la Virgen stands on the Plaza de Nuestra Señora del Pino, next to the basilica of Teror. The house was built at the end of the 17th century and its present appearance dates from the 18th century. It belongs to the Manrique de Lara family, patrons of the Virgen del Pino for four generations, who look after the throne and liturgical objects of the procession. It opened as a museum in 1969 and today is a privately owned museum collection, held under an agreement between the Teror town council and the family.

The visit goes through domestic rooms with local and imported household items and with furniture from the family's entailed estate (mayorazgo). Old photographs, tapestries, porcelain, weapons and portraits are preserved. On the ground floor are the bedroom of Néstor Álamo, a private library and the room where the old silver throne and the treasures of the Virgin are kept. On the upper floor there is a small chapel with the image of the Virgen del Pino. The museum also includes a small collection of carriages and a room dedicated to the painter Georg Hedrich and to Néstor Álamo.
