About the museum
The Centro Buñuel Calanda presents the life, work and world of the filmmaker Luis Buñuel in his home town. It was one of the main activities of the “Año Buñuel”, which began on 22 February 2000, and aims to make the director’s figure known and to highlight his link with Calanda.
The building spans several floors. On the ground floor are the Calanda tourist information point, the reception, the shop and a 135 m² temporary exhibition room. The permanent exhibition occupies the first floor and is organised into four areas: Biography, The Worlds of Buñuel, Filmography and a screening room. It uses new technologies and multimedia resources so that each visitor can explore the content at their own level of knowledge.
On the second floor there is a media library with a multimedia collection and library service, a multi-purpose room for workshops, seminars and presentations, and an audiovisual room for sound, editing and post-production. The centre runs activities throughout the year, including the Festival Internacional Buñuel Calanda.
