About the museum

The Centro de Interpretación Camarón de la Isla opened in July 2021 beside the Venta de Vargas, the place where the singer took his first steps in flamenco. It is a modern building with an interactive exhibition space that keeps alive the study of his figure and of the revolution he brought to cante.

The exhibition follows his life in chronological order in three sections: “Origen”, on his childhood and interests; “Leyenda”, from his arrival in Madrid to the recording of “La leyenda del tiempo” and his friendship with Paco de Lucía; and “Revolución”, on the worldwide recognition that followed. The ground floor has the reception, the shop and a space for listening to recordings and consulting bibliography, and a Mercedes that belonged to the artist is on display. The first floor shows gold discs, awards and costumes.

The centre holds a large audiovisual collection, with more than thirty hours of video according to the municipal tourism service, and personal material provided by the family. It also has a multi-purpose room with a large screen and a rooftop terrace for events, and it organises special activities throughout the year.
