About the museum

The Centro de Interpretación de los Molinos de Agua (CIMA) is housed in the former flour mill of Fuentes Calientes, an 18th-century building in the El Molino area beside the Arroyo de la Vega. The museum project was designed by the museologist Juan José Barragán for the town council.

The mill has three floors and preserves the grinding and settling areas and the miller's dwelling. The exhibition explains the development of water mills, their types, the products they made and their uses, based on the study of the Fuentes Calientes mill itself and on comparison with others.

Remains of traditional mills, machinery from the first Industrial Revolution and, outside, equipment with petrol engines from the seventies can be seen. The visit also includes a grinding demonstration and a video on how the mills work and on their influence on the village and on the Teruel plateau.
