About the museum
The Museo del Campo was founded in 1998 on the initiative of the residents of Taberno, who donated tools, machinery and utensils that their families had used over the last two centuries. Today it holds at least 2,000 objects and is run by the town council, which presents it as an interpretation centre of rural habitat and as a cultural and tourist resource of the municipality. According to the museum guide of the Diputación de Almería, the centre opened in 2007 and occupies about 200 square metres in a single room.
The visit is organised in three spaces: a reception area, where the visit begins; an exhibition room dedicated to the territory, traditional settlement and economic activities (agricultural cycles, extraction, processing and technological change); and a space called “Memoria de un pueblo”, with the donated pieces and a short audiovisual.
