About the museum
The Centro de Interpretación del Patrimonio Cultural de Caudete is a municipal facility designed to present the territory, history and culture of the town in the province of Albacete. It has a visitor reception area, a history room and a documentary and archaeological collection with pieces found at the sites in the municipal area.
The exhibition first explains the geography of Caudete, marked by its position as a communications hub and by its abundant water, factors that favoured early settlement. One section is devoted to the Neolithic and the Bronze Age, periods well represented at the sites in the area.
The legacy of Iberian culture occupies a prominent place. The centre has replicas of two highly valued finds, the Cierva (5th century BC) and the Dama de Caudete (4th century BC), and its main piece is the Pilar Estela, part of an Iberian funerary monument from the 4th century BC. The display is completed with brooches, loom weights, spindle whorls, coins and decorated pottery from the Iberian and Roman periods.
A final space covers the Middle Ages and the early modern period up to the early 20th century, a decisive stage for the town’s economic development. The narrative draws on photographs, explanatory panels, video projections and archaeological pieces.
