About the museum
The MUSA, the Iconographic Museum of Holy Week of Yecla, is housed in the historic Church of San Francisco and is run by the Real Cabildo Superior de Cofradías Pasionarias (Royal Superior Council of Passion Brotherhoods). Previously, the processional heritage was displayed in the former church of the Asunción, known as the Iglesia Vieja (Old Church).
The exhibition, which is educational in character, traces five centuries of history, tradition and brotherhood heritage, from the 16th century to the present day. Several rooms explain the museum’s narrative and present a representative part of Yecla’s processional items.
The visit also allows visitors to appreciate the restoration of the church building and of the adjoining chapel and camarín (shrine room) of Our Lady of Anguish (Virgen de las Angustias), and highlights the artistic and brotherhood heritage of Yecla’s Holy Week.
