About the museum
The MUDEM was created to protect and make known the remains of the wall of Molina de Segura, discovered in 2004. They belong to the Andalusi Ḥiṣn Mūlina, a fortification that spans the period from the 11th to the 16th century, in the former Kingdom of Murcia. The museum opened in March 2016.
The route allows you to walk alongside about 125 metres of wall, with watchtowers roughly every twenty metres. At the beginning of the 13th century the wall was raised to about 8 metres and protected by a 7-metre moat. Among the remains are a nine-sided tower and a gate with a double-bend entrance.
The visit combines the remains with interactive features: 3D glasses, a pop-up book that comes to life, a bilingual timeline, a digital archive, a 3D room and the meteorite room. The building also includes a 240-seat auditorium and a room for temporary exhibitions. The programme is completed by educational workshops, theatrical tours, treasure hunts and the activity “Una noche en el museo”.
