About the museum
The Concha Foundation Archaeological Museum opened on 5 July 2005, after a major refurbishment of the upper floor of the foundation's building in Navalmoral de la Mata. The Concha Foundation was created in 1883 by Antonio María Concha y Cano, a liberal politician and businessman, to support a nursery school and a public library in the town.
The museum is arranged in four rooms, and its route is designed to present the history of the north-eastern comarcas (districts) of the province of Cáceres, from early Prehistory to the Islamic period. In each room there are two levels of information: a specific panel for each display case, describing the objects shown, and a general panel placing the whole in its historical interpretation.
The museum operates under a collaboration agreement with the Provincial Museum of Cáceres. For guided or arranged visits, you must first write to the foundation, stating the day, time, number of attendees and a contact telephone number.
