About the museum
The museum was inaugurated on 26 April 2012 on Calle Corredera, in a former building that had been a school, an anti-malaria centre and a telephone exchange. It has two floors and is run by the Candeleda town council.
The upper floor displays the collections “Celtas al Sur de Gredos” (Celts south of the Gredos), with Vettonian pieces from the Castro de El Raso, and “La Candeleda Medieval”, with documents such as the Carta de Villazgo (town charter) and the town's medieval coat of arms carved in stone. The ground floor houses “Candeleda, una visita Real” (Candeleda, a Royal Visit), dedicated to the centenary of King Alfonso XIII's visit.
