About the museum
The Museo de Jarramplas is located in the Casa de Cultura of Piornal (Cáceres) and is dedicated to the Jarramplas festival, which is celebrated every year on 19 and 20 January and was declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest in 2014.
It is a fully interactive museum: panels and digital screens explain how the festival's objects are made, its most significant moments, its music and sounds, and the various theories about its origin. The collection brings together pieces used in the celebration, such as masks, costumes, tambourines, cudgels and armour.
Among its greatest attractions are a life-size model of the Jarramplas and a virtual reality mask that lets visitors experience what the character lives through. The museum also has an audiovisual room with a giant screen for around 50 people.
