About the museum
The museum is dedicated to the sculptor Lorenzo Coullaut Valera, born in Marchena in 1876. It opened in 1990, when the town council acquired the collection from a grandson of the artist, who had kept it in his house in San Sebastián. It consists mainly of sketches that the sculptor made before tackling a definitive sculpture or monument, as well as reliefs and sculptures.
The permanent collection brings together nearly thirty works and is displayed in the covered courtyard and on the upper floor of the Puerta de Morón, a double gate with a courtyard and an Almohad tower from the first half of the 13th century. The same building houses the Municipal Tourist Office.
