About the museum
The Museo de Osuna occupies the former palace of the brothers Arjona y Cubas, an 18th-century manor house that in the 20th century housed the local Agricultural Chamber (Cámara Agrícola). Today it is also the seat of the Municipal Tourist Office.
The visit begins in the palace's cellar, where large earthenware jars (tinajas) are kept, used for storing wine, oil, and salted meat and fish. Thirteen of the fifteen that once existed are preserved. On the ground floor the collections of Rodríguez Jaldón and Rodolfo Álvarez Santaló are displayed, together with rooms for temporary exhibitions.
On the upper floor are various settings devoted to the history of the town: contents from the Municipal Archive (“Nobleza y poder”), the former photographic studio of the Ruiz family, holdings from the former university of Osuna and its archive, the Ledesma printing press and the hat shop “El Bombo”. There is also the Salón de Hielo y Fuego (Hall of Ice and Fire), the first room devoted to the international series “Juego de tronos” (Game of Thrones), because part of the fifth season was filmed in Osuna's bullring.
