About the museum
The Museo de Cine Colin Arthur is dedicated to the work of Colin Arthur, a make-up and special effects artist who worked on more than 140 films with directors such as Stanley Kubrick, Ridley Scott, Steven Spielberg, Pedro Almodóvar, Alejandro Amenábar and Ray Harryhausen. Characters such as Fuyur, the Comepiedras and the Caracol de Carreras came from his hands.
The exhibition is run by the non-profit cultural association El Hombre Interminable, created to preserve, promote and maintain the collection of original pieces and the artist's legacy. The website itself makes clear that it is an unofficial exhibition, independent of the audiovisual productions.
The route shows iconic figures made by Arthur himself from the original moulds of the film shoots, alongside re-creations by the team of Prometeo Escultura, of Juan Villa. It also explains how a creature is designed from the first sketch, the making of well-known films and the digital restoration work applied to pieces such as Fuyur or the Comepiedras. A film set is also included, where visitors can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a shoot.
