About the museum
The museum opened on 21 September 2001. Its origin lies in a large collection donated to Salas de los Infantes town council by the Colectivo Arqueológico y Paleontológico de Salas (Archaeological and Palaeontological Collective of Salas), and its information is published through the Fundación para el Estudio de los Dinosaurios en Castilla y León (Foundation for the Study of Dinosaurs in Castilla y León).
The tour is divided into two rooms. The archaeology room follows a chronological order from the Lower Palaeolithic to the Early Middle Ages, and includes bifaces, Bronze Age spearheads, Iron Age pottery, Roman stelae and a medieval tomb. The palaeontology room presents dinosaur remains from the Early Cretaceous, between 140 and 120 million years old, together with dioramas, reconstructed skeletons and life-size statues.
The museum also offers a virtual reality experience that recreates the life of a dinosaur in its habitat, guided visits for groups with advance booking, and workshops and educational materials for schools.
