About the museum
The Museo de Juguetes de Albarracín grew out of Eustaquio Castellano’s passion for antique toys. The collection is preserved thanks to the Fundación Eustaquio Castellano and is displayed in a house in the historic centre, in the Arrabal district, over three floors.
The pieces range from the late 19th century to the final decades of the 20th century and are made of a wide variety of materials: lead, tinplate, porcelain, clay, wood, cardboard and paper. There are dolls, electric trains, cars, dolls’ houses, puppets, cut-out sheets and picture cards from the 1950s.
The museum is designed as a visit for all ages, under the motto “saliendo del tiempo” (“stepping out of time”). In addition to the permanent collection, it often organises themed exhibitions and workshops on play and toys, especially in summer and mainly aimed at children. Next to the galleries there is a shop selling handmade toys.
