About the museum
The museum was created in 1985 to conserve and display the costumes of the parade groups (comparsas), festival posters, photographs, weapons, musical instruments and other festive objects. Its first home was the ground floor of the Palacio de Rubalcava, entered from Calle Francisco Die. Over time, collections from the medieval and early modern periods were added, on deposit from the Museo Arqueológico Comarcal, and the collections were catalogued.
After nearly two years of closure, the association moved its headquarters in 2003 to the nearby Casa del Festero, and the former premises began to be used occasionally as an exhibition room. In 2019 the building was refurbished to improve accessibility and a temporary exhibition room was set up on the first floor. The permanent room on the ground floor has display cases, a projection room and audiovisual equipment, and traces the history of the festival and its legends.
