About the museum
The Museo del Ferrocarril de Brañuelas recalls the history of the railway and its enormous importance for this Leonese village. The route begins as a journey through time: the exhibits show the day-to-day life of the railway profession, made up of different trades that depended on one another like the gears of a machine.
The collection brings together documents, 19th-century manuals, photographs, books, signals, communication and alarm systems and many other objects that explain the evolution since the first steam locomotives ran through this landscape in 1868. The museum also has an N-scale railway model of 12 square metres, made largely by hand.
