About the museum

Fundación Club 45 is a non-profit cultural foundation set up in León at the end of 2019 by Álex Cooper, musician leading Los Flechazos and Cooper, creator of the Purple Weekend festival and head of Ediciones Chelsea. Its aims include promoting pop culture, supporting artists from León and revitalising rural life in the Maragatería region from Santa Colomba de Somoza, a village that received the title of Cultural Village of the Province of León in 2021.

To set up its headquarters, the former Casa de las Maestras was refurbished and equipped, with support from local and regional authorities and European funds managed through the Montañas del Teleno Local Action Group. The museum opened in June 2024.

The Archivo Gráfico de la Era Pop works as a documentation centre open to enthusiasts, journalists and researchers. It holds one of the most complete collections of music magazines from the sixties, digitisation equipment and a selection of books on the beat and pop of that decade. In the same building, a permanent exhibition of memorabilia gathered over the years by Álex Cooper is spread over three areas: the Sala British Beat, the Sala Europa and the Sala de las Curiosidades. The venue also includes a classroom, a multi-purpose room with a café and stage, and the Popcorner, a small temporary exhibition room.
