About the museum

The Museo del Fútbol Aguileño was founded in 1996, to mark the centenary of football in Águilas, on the initiative of the Asociación Centenario del Fútbol Aguileño, which runs it on a non-profit basis. Águilas was, together with Huelva and Bilbao, one of the entry points of football into Spain, brought by British workers linked to the railway and the mines.

The collection consists of objects of great historical and sentimental value lent by families from the town: photographs, shirts, boots and other memorabilia of those who played for Águilas C. F. The museum is recognised by the Real Federación Española de Fútbol and has a collaboration agreement with the town council, which covers the costs of the premises.
