About the museum
The Museo del Grabado de Goya opened in 1989 in Fuendetodos (Zaragoza), the village where the painter was born in 1746, a few metres from his birthplace. It occupies a traditional three-storey Aragonese house and was created to bring together Goya's prints in his place of origin. The museum and the purchase of the four print series were made possible through the collaboration of private individuals and artists.
For Goya, printmaking began as a pastime, but he soon discovered its creative possibilities. With this technique he could express his most personal world with complete freedom, which sets him apart from the printmakers of his time. The permanent collection presents the series “Los caprichos”, “Los desastres de la guerra”, “La tauromaquia” and “Los disparates”.
On the same street is the Sala Zuloaga, a building opened in 1996 and devoted to temporary exhibitions of graphic art, which has hosted shows of historical printmaking and contemporary graphic art. The museum is part of the cultural offer of the Fundación Fuendetodos Goya.
