About the museum
The museum opened on 15 July 2018 in the cloisters of the former convent of San Juan de Capistrano in Villaviciosa. It was created to bring together in one place the treasures of the Cofradía de Jesús Nazareno (Brotherhood of Jesus of Nazareth), which has organised a Holy Week documented since 1668.
The room displays almost all the processional images that pass through the streets of the town from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, together with their andas (litters), farolillos (lanterns) and banners. A photographic route reviews how the processions were and how they are today. Two audiovisuals explain the meaning of this celebration, which is not only religious but also cultural, artistic and historical.
