About the museum
Ignacio Zuloaga (1870–1945) first travelled to Segovia at the end of 1898 and painted some of his most important works there. In 1925 he bought the castle of Pedraza as a house in Castile and rebuilt its walls to create a studio and a family living space; the purchase was formalised before a notary in 1928. He painted only three works in the castle.
In autumn 2011 his granddaughter, María Rosa Suárez Zuloaga, opened to the public a collection of works by the painter and of pieces from the art collection he had assembled since his youth. The museum occupies the North Tower of the castle, where the painter’s private rooms are preserved, along with his studio in the keep (torre del homenaje).
The visit covers the “Entre Muros” courtyard, the patio de armas (parade courtyard) and the tower museum, with works by Zuloaga and decorative arts. The site also has a library and spaces for events.
