About the museum
The Museo de los Fueros is housed in the church of Santos Justo y Pastor, a building erected between the 12th and 13th centuries. It brings together the most important historical, artistic, archaeological and documentary heritage of Sepúlveda and tells the story of the town and of its Comunidad de Villa y Tierra, using its famous Fuero as the common thread.
The collection includes pieces from the 13th to the 18th century: documents, sculpture, painting, silverwork and textiles. Highlights include the coffered ceiling (artesonado), the silver cross and the seven keys, the emblem of Sepúlveda. The visit begins with an audiovisual presentation of about seven minutes.
The museum also has a crypt, where the confirmation of the Fuero of Sepúlveda by Alfonso VI is displayed, and a choir loft from which the whole church can be seen.
