About the museum
The museum grew out of the donation by the painter Manuel Torres Martínez, who gave the Marín town council about 77 works. Torres was born in Marín in 1901 and was greatly influenced by Carlos Maside, with whom he had a close friendship. He worked in the press, producing cartoons and drawings in which his admiration for the style and satire of Castelao is evident.
His output spans almost every discipline and trend: landscapes, still lifes, portraits and prints, as well as numerous pencil and ink drawings and sculptures. The remaining rooms of the museum are used for temporary exhibitions of contemporary visual artists and craftspeople.
