About the museum
The museum occupies the house that was the studio of the painter and poet Amalio García del Moral, on the Plaza de Doña Elvira, in the heart of the Santa Cruz district. Amalio set up the foundation on 3 February 1995, eight days before he died, and established its seat in this house. On the façade there is a ceramic reproduction of work number 158, “Estructura”, and an inscription in Castilian, Arabic and Hebrew that symbolises tolerance.
The foundation's aim is to promote and cultivate the artist's pictorial and literary legacy and to encourage the study of painting and other arts. The museum holds most of his work, including the donated collection “Las 365 vistas de la Giralda”, painted between 1962 and 1994. The ensemble includes paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures and works in other techniques, and is divided into phases such as landscapes, the world of Esperanza and the proletarian apostolate, symbolic realism and material expressionism.
In addition to visits, the foundation organises guided experiences, concerts and cultural events, and rents out spaces for events. It is currently listed as closed for maintenance works.
