About the museum
The Museu de la Ràdio “Luis del Olmo” is located in the Roc de Sant Gaietà area of Roda de Berà, in the civic centre of La Roca Foradada. The building was originally built as a yacht club; the town council bought and restored it to convert it into a museum.
The collection brings together more than 540 radio sets of different styles and periods, from 1820 to the present, as well as the awards presented to the radio journalist over his career. All the pieces belong to Luis del Olmo's private collection, which he has donated to the town council to create the museum.
The museum opened on 9 June 2012 and was extended with an additional floor in July 2019. It is the first museum of radio promoted by the journalist in Catalonia and the second in Spain, after the one opened in Ponferrada in 2003. The museum also has a room dedicated to the architect and artist Josep Maria Jujol, the Espai Jujol, which displays six candelabra and a polychrome wrought-iron crucifix, with information about the artist.
