About the museum
Helsingborgs brandkårsmuseum (Helsingborg Fire Brigade Museum) opened on 29 June 1973 in the old fire station in Råå, which was in use from 1913 to 1918. The fire service and its friends restored the station on a voluntary basis and showed tools, pictures and documents from earlier times. The museum is run by a non-profit association.
In 2016 the museum moved to much larger premises in a former workshop used by the city's street office, on Östra Sandgatan in Gåsebäck's industrial area. The premises consist of a vehicle hall with five gates and a few side rooms, and have been fitted out as a museum through voluntary work by the members.
The collection includes fire engines from the early 1900s, among them Helsingborg's first motorised fire engine from 1915 and a vehicle from 1925, a steam pump from 1892 and other material on fire fighting in Helsingborg. The museum wants to show the connection between today's civil protection and the fire service of the past.
