About the museum

The Dan Andersson Museum in Ludvika is run by the Dan Andersson Society (Dan Andersson-sällskapet) and is dedicated to the writer and poet Dan Andersson. The old museum was one flight up at Engelbrektsgatan 8 and closed in November 2021. The new museum opened on Dan Andersson’s birthday, 6 April, with close to 140 guests and a birthday cake, in the neighbouring building at Engelbrektsgatan 6.

The move itself was brief, but the removal work was enormous, because thirty years of collecting, not always with perfect documentation, had filled every room, including the attic and cellar.

The society organises cultural cafés in the museum, often on Saturdays, with programmes of folk songs, poems and music by Dan Andersson and other folk-song poets. The society also publishes the magazine På Färdvägarna and organises Dan Andersson Week.
