About the museum
Ebelingmuseet opened in 1997 in Torshälla and is an artist’s museum dedicated to Allan Ebeling (1897–1975). The museum shows his paintings, ceramics and sculptures, including the work Smederna (The Smiths) from 1967, as well as paintings and prints by his daughter Marianne Ebeling (1930–1979).
Alongside the permanent exhibitions, the museum regularly arranges temporary exhibitions of contemporary art and crafts. Ebelingmuseet is part of Eskilstuna konstmuseer (Eskilstuna Art Museums), which also comprises Eskilstuna konstmuseum, public art and Svenskt barnbildarkiv (the Swedish children’s pictures archive).
The art museums’ mission is to collect, care for, preserve and make art and children’s pictures accessible, and the activities are run by Eskilstuna municipality. In spring and autumn the museum organises guided tours of the public art in Torshälla, and it lends out an explorer’s bag (upptäckarväska) with educational material for Holmbergsparken, adapted for children and young people.
