About the museum
Härnösands bilmuseum was started in 2015 by entrepreneur Calle Lundkvist, who was already repairing mopeds as a teenager and bought his first car at the age of 15. Today the museum is run by him together with volunteer friends, and it calls itself Sveriges största bilmuseum (Sweden's largest car museum).
In several exhibition halls around 300 cars are shown in a journey through time from 1899 to 1990. The collection includes both exclusive, expensive cars with unusual histories and ordinary working vehicles and people's cars (folkhemsbilar) that many people recognise. Here, for example, a Rolls-Royce stands next to a Tjorven, a T-Ford next to a Trabant, and classic American cars from the 1950s under the same roof as a Volkswagen Bubbla.
The museum is on Djuphamnsvägen in Härnösand, near the E4 (exit 239), and also has motorhome pitches during the summer half-year.
