About the museum
Hallsbergs hembygdsgård, also called Stocksättersgården, is managed by Hallsbergs hembygdsförening, which was founded in 1963. Before that Hallsberg and Kumla had a joint homestead society. The farm came about through Werner Nilsson's will, in which he left his estate to Hallsberg köping (market town) to establish an antiquities and homestead museum.
Over the years the association has expanded the farm with several houses from the 1600s to the 19th century. Today the area includes, among other things, the main building, a laundry house with a farmhand's room (drängkammare), an outhouse (dass), a boa (outbuilding), Kantakrogen (the Kanta tavern), the Knektstugan with a barn, a brewhouse, a smithy, a loge (lodge), a storehouse building, Oskarslundshuset and a dance floor (dansbana).
The homestead museum is a well-kept area of general interest, and the association's activities are arranged in cooperation with the study association Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan.
