About the museum
The Lundmarkska skolan was built in 1808 as a schoolhouse and teacher's residence, and it is one of Sweden's oldest rural schoolhouses. It is named after Anders Lundmark, who in his will set aside funds for a schoolhouse and a teacher in the Hardemo district.
Over the years the building was used, among other things, as a meeting hall for the parish, for confirmation classes, as a woodwork room for Hardemo school, for the parish's children's and youth activities, and as premises for municipal childcare until 1999.
In 1970 the ground floor was fitted out as a school museum. The objects come almost entirely from other schools in Kumla Municipality, and the museum aims to show how a school and a teacher's residence could look 75–100 years ago.
