About the museum
As early as the 16th century there was an inn at Bötterum on the old route between Kalmar and Stockholm, which today corresponds to national road 34. From the 17th century there was both a coaching inn and a court venue (tingsplats) here. The older building was replaced in 1753 by the present coaching inn, which was extended to the north in 1793. Inside the house there are tiled stoves and wall paintings from the 1790s, and the coaching inn is a listed building.
North of the road lies the heritage park under large oaks, with some fifteen buildings from the 18th and early 19th centuries, including the courthouse, a grain store, a carriage shed and the old lock-up known as finkan. The park is used as a festival site, where National Day and Midsummer Eve are among the celebrations. The museum in the coaching inn is south of the road.
Långemåla local heritage society owns and manages the site. For many years the association has renovated the buildings with support from the county administrative board and the rural development programme, and in 2026 the coaching inn received a renovated facade.
