About the museum

Klasroskolan (Klasro School) was built in 1804 on the initiative of Baron Per Alexander Rudbeck at Edsberg, who also paid for the teaching. Until 1871 it was Sollentuna's only school. Rudbeck's grandson Reinold Rudbeck donated the plot and the by then already old school building to Sollentuna Municipality in 1885.

The schoolroom was fitted out as a museum in 1964, and in the mid-1980s the teacher's residence followed. The schoolroom shows what a Lancasterian school (lancasterskola) could look like around 1840, while the residential part is furnished to reflect the period up to 1880.

Today Klasro skolmuseum (Klasro School Museum) is a municipal attraction. Visitors can see the schoolroom, the teacher's residence with kitchen, bedroom and parlour, and a sand tray where children once practised writing. There are also clothes that both children and adults can dress up in.
