About the museum
The yellow house on the corner of Sankt Annegatan and Tomegapsgatan was built around 1815. In 1855 it was bought by the turner Landgren, whose wife opened a small grocery shop in a room on the ground floor. Between 1898 and 1929 the shop was run by Elisabeth and Jöns Larsson, who extended it in 1906 and equipped it with new counters and shelves. The floor plan that remains today largely dates from their time.
O. A. Ohlsson owned the house and shop from 1929 to 1962 and then sold it to Kulturen. Kulturen has since recreated a grocery shop from around 1900, with old-fashioned goods and shelves filled with older packaging. The shop is run by Kulturen with the help of the association Hökeriets vänner (Friends of Hökeriet), and in summer Kulturen's own staff work there.
Visitors can experience the shop as a period setting and buy, among other things, juice, jam, honey, toys and sweets in paper cones (godis i strut). Hökeriet also has a small café during opening hours, where you can get waffles with jam and cream, coffee and tea.
