About the museum
Njurunda hembygdsgård lies on Klockarberget in Njurunda outside Sundsvall and is the meeting place of Njurunda Local Heritage Association. The main building is a 19th-century farmhouse that originally stood in Svedje in Skärsätt and was moved to Klockarberget in the 1950s. On the ground floor there are the large room, a bedroom and the kitchen, and on the upper floor a museum with a school room, a nature room and the best room (finrum).
Several older buildings that have been moved here stand on the site. The parish storehouse, from the 18th century, previously stood by the old church in Njurundabommen and was used to store reserve grain and tithe grain. The Notstugan (net cottage), which the villagers of Nolby used for salmon fishing at Svartvik and donated to the association in the 1960s, is now a forestry and log-driving museum. Marcus Lövblad’s studio is his old summer studio, a church cottage that was moved here and inaugurated in 2003.
On the site there is also a bakehouse, a härbre (storehouse) and an outdoor stage. The association holds Walpurgis Night celebrations, National Day celebrations, midsummer celebrations, an autumn market and a bonfire evening, and the local heritage farm can be rented for parties.
