About the museum
Nymans Verkstäder (Nyman's Workshops) together with Pharmacia was for many years the largest single manufacturing industry in Uppsala. The company made, among other things, bicycles, mopeds, motorcycles, boat engines, lawn mowers and household machines. The association Nymans vänner (Friends of Nymans), which celebrates 30 years in 2026, keeps the memory of the company and its products alive.
The exhibition is in the basement of the old police station at Salagatan 18 B, in the same block (Noatun) where Nymans verkstäder once stood. The collections contain bicycles, mainly of the brands Hermes and Crescent, all the boat engines that were made, the prototype engines developed under Volvo's aegis, lawn mowers, dishwashers, mopeds, motorcycles and prototype products.
The association holds open viewings and organises guided walks in the block, for example during Kulturnatten (Culture Night). It also arranges member meetings, excursions and the annual Nymansrallyt (Nymans Rally), and sells a book about Nymans verkstäder.
