About the museum

The two buildings that today make up Odalmannens museum were built in 1931 and 1932 as a stable, grain store and cart shed at Marieborg farm outside Norrköping, with Jacob Philipsson as the builder. Since 1985 the buildings have housed an agricultural museum. They were dismantled in 1994 and re-erected at Valla farm in 1995, and the collections were donated by Odal maskin. When they were erected at Valla farm, a threshing walk (tröskvandring) was added.

At the museum visitors learn more about life as a farmer in the past. The exhibition Traktormakt (Tractor Power) tells the story of the tractor, and the museum houses many tractors and other farm implements, both Swedish and foreign. The veteran tractors may not be touched, but there is a special tractor for children that you can sit in, as well as a play corner.

The exhibition Alla tiders mjölk (Milk of All Times) depicts the history of milk and dairies, from the craft-based butter and cheese making of the 19th century to today’s global dairy industry.
