About the museum
Viksta traktormuseum in Rångsta, about 30 km north of Uppsala, was founded by the farmer Valter Anstrén. In 1987 he donated his collection of old motor equipment, several pieces of it unique, to Viksta Local Heritage Society (Viksta hembygdsförening). Anstrén died in 1994.
The siblings Astrid and Valter Anstrén later bequeathed their agricultural property of 20 hectares of arable land to the Syskonen Astrid och Valter Anstréns stiftelse för Viksta traktormuseum (Astrid and Valter Anstrén Siblings' Foundation for Viksta Tractor Museum), which today owns and manages the museum. The collection has grown considerably since the foundation was formed.
Today nearly 150 tractors and other motor vehicles are displayed in exhibition halls totalling 3,000 m². The oldest tractor in the collection is an Avancen from 1916. In addition there are harvesters, ploughs, stone crushers, a motor roller, stationary crude-oil engines and a replica of Viksta fire station with the station's last fire engine and original equipment.
