About the museum
The Dorfmuseum Bottighofen is housed in the municipal works yard and is run by the municipality of Bottighofen. Its foundation is a collection that Bottighofen resident Alois Gantenbein has been gathering since 1980 and still maintains with great care.
The exhibits come from households and from agricultural and other businesses in Bottighofen and the surrounding area. On display are objects of everyday life, devices, machines and vehicles from older and more recent times; all of them come from the village and document its history.
The collection is complemented by photographs, postcards and videos. They are shown by appointment on the topics of interest; a small selection of the pictures can also be seen on the website “Bottighofer Bilder”.
