About the museum
The house museum is located on the top floor above the sacristy in the former Kreuzlingen monastery on Hauptstrasse. It opened in 1993 and was redesigned in 2013. The exhibits date from the monastery period, which lasted from 1125 until its dissolution in 1848.
On display are engravings, documents and objects from the monastery era. These include paintings of unknown origin from the monastery’s holdings, which were rescued from decay, copies of the oldest charters, and the original head of a statue from the time of the second monastery building of 1506.
In a separate room the museum documents the devastating fire of 1963 and the subsequent reconstruction. Visits are possible by arrangement.
